Absentee Voting
Registration deadlines outlined in Election Overview
You do not need a reason or excuse to vote absentee in Alaska—anyone can request an absentee ballot. Your absentee ballot application must be received 10 days before the election, and completed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day.

Electronic Submission Voting
Any voter can also vote in Alaska by electronic submission. You may vote via fax or through a secure online delivery system. Voting online requires you to have access to a computer, printer, and a scanner to produce a digital file (PDF, TIFF, or JPG). You can apply to vote through electronic submission up to 5 PM the day before the election. Applications are available 15 days before an election. Early Voting
Early voting is available beginning 15 days before Election Day through Election Day, and you may vote at a regional election office in the jurisdiction you are registered to vote in.
What to Expect
on Election Day
On Election Day, polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Voter ID Requirements
You must bring a valid ID to vote. Acceptable forms of ID must have your name and current address, they include:
- Voter ID card, driver’s license, state ID card, or military ID card;
- Passport, hunting or fishing license; or
- Other current or valid photo identification; or
- Current utility bill or paycheck; or
- Government check or bank statement; or
- Other government-issued documents.
Language Access
Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act requires certain jurisdictions to provide in-language voting materials in areas with a significant number of limited English proficient voters.

Section 208 of the Voting Rights Act states that, “Any voter who requires assistance to vote by reason of blindness, disability, or inability to read or write may be given assistance by a person of the voter’s choice, other than the voter’s employer or agent of the employer or office or agent of the voter’s union.”
It is your right to bring your own interpreter to the polls, if you so choose.
