What are Civic Holidays?
Civic Holidays are nonpartisan days of action that strengthen and celebrate our country’s democracy. Each one marks a different phase of the voting experience, from registering to casting a ballot to honoring the people who make elections run. Here’s the road to Election Day 2026.
First observed in 2012, this holiday has helped more than 5 million Americans register to vote. Still, as many as 1 in 5 eligible Americans are not registered. Help change that by joining the country’s largest single-day voter registration drive and organizing an event in your community.
Voters should have the information they need to cast their ballots with confidence. This week-long campaign helps voters find their polling location, understand their ballot, and make a plan to vote. In-language resources make all the difference for many AAPI voters, and that’s where our partners shine.
Election Hero Day recognizes the election officials, administrative staff, and poll workers who ensure a safe, secure, and accessible election. New for this cycle, the holiday now falls before Election Day, so our thanks can boost morale right when these public servants need it most.
When Americans vote early, last-minute problems, long lines, and confusing voting rules can’t stop their ballots from being counted. Vote Early Day gives voters the tools to cast their ballots ahead of time, so Election Day becomes the last day to vote, not the only one.

About APIAVote and the Civic Holidays
Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote) was founded in 2007 with a vision to increase civic engagement among Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. As a national, nonpartisan organization, APIAVote works with local and state community-based organizations to mobilize AAPIs in electoral and civic participation.
The Civic Holidays are an integral part of APIAVote’s work every year. As a longtime national convener of AAPI-serving organizations, APIAVote recruits dozens of partners to plan voter registration drives, canvass events, phone banks, and other celebrations on these holidays, alongside thousands of organizations around the country. Partners have hosted live Q&As, virtual town halls, arts and activism events, voter mobiles, and raffles, all powered by in-language materials produced by APIAVote.
