APIAVote Applauds Supreme Court Ruling in Census Citizenship Question and Encourages Census Participation
WASHINGTON, D.C.-In light of the Supreme Court’s decision today, we are thrilled to see that democracy has won and that the citizenship question will not be included in the 2020 Census at this time. The intimidation of noncitizens against participating in the census will undoubtedly cause an undercount of minority demographics, ultimately defunding our communities and reinforcing political underrepresentation. We will continue to fight for the representation and resources that the AANHPI communities deserve and will work to ensure the full and complete participation of all communities without fear in the 2020 Census.
