Ruoping Chen (she/her/hers) leads APIAVote’s strategic communications efforts as the Director. In this role, she oversees the organization’s integrated communications strategy across traditional and digital platforms. Ruoping spearheads content development initiatives to drive engagement, education, and impact, while collaborating with media outlets and stakeholders to amplify the voices and causes of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs).

With a diverse background in journalism, policy research, and multimedia production, Ruoping brings a wealth of experience to her work at APIAVote. Previously, she served as the Editor in Chief at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, where she oversaw the production and development of their in-house business magazine, conducted policy research on business and US-China relations, and led video production and editing projects. Ruoping has also worked in corporate communications for Burson-Marsteller in Shanghai and spent six years as a documentary TV producer and director for the English language channel of Shanghai Media Group. Ruoping holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
