Vida Benavides is a bridge builder and is often called to serve as a communication link and strategist between nonprofit entities, governmental bodies, political institutions, community and elected leaders for the purposes of empowering communities and advancing political and policy agendas. Vida is a public affairs consultant specializing in developing political, policy, public relations, communication and fund development strategies with a focus on developing diverse and alternative outreach approach to multicultural communities. Vida is a nationally recognized expert on Asian Pacific American electoral politics and often consults and/or advise national, statewide, and local leaders, on voter education and mobilization, constituency politics, and overall strategy. She was instrumental in helping launch National Asian Pacific American Voter Registration and Education Campaign in 1996 that subsequently became APIA Vote in 2000. As a founding board member, has helped launched APIA Vote into establishing its presence on the national level. Vida advised APIA Vote on a nonpartisan massive voter registration and get out the vote drive in targeted states for 2004 election. Vida has recently finished her term as a member of the Democratic Party Presidential Primary Timing and Scheduling Commission. The commission comprised of Party leaders including Governors, Senate and Congressional members as well as select national and community leaders. The Primary Commission developed recommendations as to the Primary Calendar and select issues involving Presidential Primary process for 2008 and beyond. Vida is a first generation Filipino American and was an Asian Pacific American Women's Leadership Institute Fellow as well as a US-German Marshall Fund Fellow, an international scholarship program that promotes Trans-Atlantic cooperation.
